A new national curriculum was introduced in September 2014 for children from Year 1 to Year 6.

Our curriculum is based on the Learning Challenge Curriculum approach, where children’s learning is linked around broad themes, shaped by a series of questions or Learning Challenges.  More about this can be found via the links below.

In maths, lessons are based around the White Rose schemes of learning, which are fully compliant with the national curriculum requirements.  Further information about how maths is taught in school and how you can support your child at home can be found here.

We do not use a set reading scheme, but use texts selected from a range of schemes as well as non-scheme books, designed to promote enjoyment of reading and instil a love of literature. Books are banded by reading ability to support progression.

Children in Reception and Key Stage One are taught phonics using the Letters and Sounds approach, supported by Pearson’s Phonics Bug.
